Is General Motors actually considering sending its Buick Avenir concept into production?

That certainly seems to be the case, as the Detroit automaker has filed a patent application to register "Buick Avenir" with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

GM plans on using to use the name for "motor land vehicles" like SUVs, trucks, engines and "structural parts thereof," according to the USPTO  from April 20.

GM revealed a concept Avenir during the 2015 North American International Auto Show earlier this year with 21-inch alloy wheels, four seats, a V-6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission. If the Avenir reaches production it could feature completely different specs though we hope GM doesn't mess with the ride too much.

We have no idea what GM's official plans are at this time. Back in February, Buick communications manager Lauren Indiveri told  that there "weren't any plans" to build the concept, so maybe GM is just making sure no one else uses the name until they figure things out.

Stay tuned as we find out more information on the patent and if GM plans on sending the Buick Avenir into production anytime soon.
