The 2018 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Hybrid was spotted testing for the first time in the Arctic cold lands. The high-riding luxurious and electrified SUV is expected to arrive before 2020 and will compete with the Tesla Model X, BMW X6, and the Range Rover Sport Coupe.
The Porsche range seems to have no limits when it comes to advancements. The arrival of the Cayenne at the beginning of the century has been a stimulus that has resulted in a growth that seems to be unstoppable. Porsche now already has 5 main products: The 718, 911, Panamera, Cayenne and Macan. Soon, the much-awaited Mission E and the Porsche Cayenne Coupe with hybrid mechanics will arrive.
This is not the first time that the SUV coupe was spotted testing. It was in August 2016 when people were surprised to discover this unit, an obvious test mule that seems to be done with the body of the second-generation Panamera, albeit considerably high. But this time, spy photographers were able to capture it more closely showing a lot more details, as seen in .
The 2018 Porsche Cayenne Coupe also shows obvious signs that it is mechanically testing a new hybrid platform with electrical components. On the back, one can find a sticker warning of electrical hazards, and away from what might appear, there are two radiators at the ends of the bumper and a traditional combustion engine at the front.
According to , the electrical elements might be in the rear axle like the Panamera hybrid. It can even use a derivative development of the J1 platform, the promised architecture created for the Mission E. The arrival of this model would be before 2020 and it targets the Tesla Model X specifically.

Tesla has proved with their Tesla Model X that people will buy luxury electric SUVs and it is certain that there is no better brand than Porsche to rely on a sporty, powerful and luxurious SUV. Moreover, Tesla can't keep up with production while Porsche obviously can.
