The Jaguar F-Pace is Jaguar's first sports utility vehicle given the US market's growing demand for larger vehicles. It is considered to directly rival Audi's Q5, the Porsche Macan, and the BMW X3.
The 2017 Jaguar F Pace. The F-Pace is around the same size as the Discovery Sport from Jaguar's sister company, Land Rover. The similarities end there. The F-Pace's underpinnings have more in common with the smaller Jaguar XE and Jaguar XF.
The F-Pace is a that provides a firmer ride than what most luxury SUV owners and buyers may prefer. Driving is comfortable on the F-Pace with its supportive seats. Visibility is good all around from the inside except for the back due to a small rear window.
For a luxury SUV, its interior has a very large quantity of plastic although much of the dashboard is in leather. The window switches are noticeably higher than what most drivers are used to and buttons for the climate settings are tedious to operate. Other buttons feel relatively low-cost. Legroom and headroom are comfortably spacious but it gets less so further down the back. Cargo space is a whopping 650 liters with the rear seats in place which mean more space than what one would probably need with the seats down.
The F-Pace features an infotainment system with an 8.0-inch touchscreen display called InControl Touch. InControl offers satellite navigation, a DAB radio, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, and a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. One can even connect a smartphone to run pre-selected apps. Unfortunately, the screen isn't as responsive as one would expect.
Under the hood, the F-Pace has a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine with 340 horsepower. It is paired with a smooth and responsive eight-speed automatic transmission. However, its engine is considered quite noisy.
The Jaguar F-Pace's starts at US$42,320. Additional features can get the price up to more or less US$70,000.
