According to , the current generation Silverado 1500 is essentially an outdated 2014 model. The new 2019 Silverado will have modern technology and is rumored to have an aluminum body atop its steel frame.

In another report by , the website pointed out that General Motors has consistently criticized the Ford pickup truck for its aluminum body. According to the website, General Motors has never stopped publicly blasting the F-150's aluminum structure. And now, the new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado could very well have the same aluminum construction!
While the use of aluminum still has not been confirmed, General Motors did reveal that they would use a lightweight material to make the pickup lighter. The lightest material they could use is aluminum. This will help shed a lot of weight and improve the truck's fuel economy.
As for its powertrain, the new Chevrolet Silverado will likely come with a pair of base engines. The first will likely be an updated version of the truck's 4.3-liter V6 engine. The other will likely be a turbocharged four-cylinder engine which will boost fuel efficiency. These engines will probably come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Silverado 1500 will probably get a V8 engine as well.
