Google have once again started to roll out the Android Wear 2.0 update to a handful of smartwatch models. Two LG and one New Balance smartwatches are expected to receive the update within this week.
Reports confirmed that the LG G Watch R and the first generation LG Watch Urbane should be able to receive the update any time this week. The same goes for the New Balance RunIQ which is slated to receive the update on or before April 14, according to . This is a welcome development for owners of older Android smartwatches as some of them, like the LG Watch R, was released a couple of years ago.

Google was forced to delay the release of the Android Wear 2.0 update to older devices after the company found a bug in the software. The recent confirmation of the rollout to LG and New Balance smartwatch could mean that Google has finally fixed the bug. Moreover, tech analysts are also expecting the same roll out to more smartwatches.
This new update roll out is sure to reinvigorate attention towards the smartwatch industry. The Android Wear 2.0 update brings a lot of upgrades and performance optimization to the platform. Among these are simpler navigation system and watchface customization access directly from the smartwatch.
Google also stated that it had added support for third-party Complications on the latest update. Android Wear 2.0 also brings the Google AI Assistant into smartwatches and the long-overdue feature that allows users to download standalone apps.
LG has yet to release the official changelog for the upcoming update. As for New Balance, the company confirmed that the Google Wear 2.0 update will bring improvements to its smartwatch's GPS function when paired to an iOS device, as well as battery life.
